While most folks are gearing up for both the start of the holiday season and their base training, many of the Edge athletes are still going strong in their respective athletic arenas.
The two person team of Mike Broderick and Mary McConneloug of Kenda/NoTube have been racing strong on the East Coast on their Edge Composites cockpit and special edition builder's badge 'cross fork.
Down south a couple of thousand miles, Edge mtb wheels were being "product tested" at the Juan Pelota Ranch, home of Lance Armstrong. Hosting the inaugural Mellow Johnny Classic this past Sunday, Armstrong himself made one of his rare appearances on a mountain bike against one of the most talented fields outside a national championship level event including National Champions Heather Irmiger and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (Subaru/Gary Fisher), Dave Wiens (Topeak-Ergon), Ironman hotshot Chris Lieto, and Edge Composites'/Team Jamis Jason Sager.
To no one's surprise Irmiger and JHK took top honors in their respective races. Armstrong flatted in a treacherous creek crossing that claimed many riders including Sager, who rallied to come back through the field to finish 3rd.
Team Kona had a rough go in the Hamptons against the three headed Hydra from Cyclocrossworld.com boys. Trebon finished just off the podium on both days, perhaps aiming more towards 'cross nats next month in his home town of Bend, Oregon.
